When the worlds of ag science, communications and policy collide

It's a good thing Aly Bunton loves talking to people, as her Public Affairs role with Bayer Australia depends on good relationships.

And it's not just with the suits in Canberra; Aly is well-connected with scientists and farmers all over to ensure Bayer stays on the front foot of industry issues globally, and that Governments are aware of how different policies impact Aussie farmers.

Aly is proud of Bayer’s manufacturing presence in Australia, referencing a big onshore investment in QLD, and says there’s something that stands out about Australian farmers and how well-respected they are internationally.

“People are always impressed with the way our farmers operate, both at a professional level, but also really authentically,” she says.

“When it comes to agricultural productivity and sustainability, Australia is up there with all the other major markets and we contribute so much more than anyone expects us to.”

Aly is passionate about ensuring the industry has continued access to chemistry and is pragmatic about the evolution of biologicals vs synthetic solutions in agriculture.

“The future of inputs has to be a toolbox system, you have to have different things you can rely on for different scenarios,” she says.

“There are amazing biological tools coming through that are going to play a really important part in a farming system.”
